Boys' School Uniform

 

High School: 

Black or khaki uniform pants or knee length shorts for high school. A belt must be worn with shorts or pants.  Belts must be black, brown or khaki. White short or long-sleeved oxford button-down shirt with Haynes Academy school logo. Black V-neck or cardigan sweater with Haynes Academy logo optional. Plain short-sleeved white undershirt, if undershirt is worn. Black, gray, or white sweatshirts with the Haynes logo or Haynes team, club, sweatshirts approved by the Principal.


Middle School: 

Khaki uniform pants or knee length shorts.  A belt must be worn with shorts or pants.  Belts must be black, brown or khaki.  Black, white, or ash knit polo shirt with Haynes Academy school logo. Plain short-sleeved white undershirt, if undershirt is worn. Black, gray, or white sweatshirts with the Haynes logo or Haynes team, club, sweatshirts approved by the Principal.
 

Girls' School Uniform


High School: 

Black or khaki uniform pant or knee-length shorts, or the Haynes Academy plaid skirt. A belt must be worn with shorts or pants.  Belts must be black, brown or khaki. Skirts should be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee all the way around. White short or long-sleeved oxford shirt with Haynes Academy logo. Plain short-sleeved white undershirt if worn. Undergarments should not be visible under the shirt. Black V-neck or cardigan sweater with Haynes Academy Logo optional. Athletic shoes of any color or black or brown casual shoes i.e. Topsiders.  Black, gray, or white sweatshirts with the Haynes logo or Haynes team, club, sweatshirts approved by the Principal. 

*Skirts must not be rolled. Pajama pants, sweat pants, yoga pants, etc., MAY NOT be worn under the skirt.*


Middle School: 

Khaki uniform pants or knee length shorts; skirts same as high school above. A belt must be worn with shorts or pants.  Belts must be black, brown or khaki. White, black, or ash knit polo shirt with Haynes Academy school logo. Plain short-sleeved white T-shirts may be worn under the uniform if worn. Black, gray, or white sweatshirts with the Haynes logo or Haynes team, club, sweatshirts approved by the Principal. *Skirts must not be rolled. Pajama pants, sweat pants, yoga pants, etc., MAY NOT be worn under the skirt.*




 

ALL STUDENTS


Shirts:

The shirt must be tucked into the pants or skirt. Only plain short-sleeved white undershirts. EVERY STUDENT MUST WEAR A UNIFORM SHIRT DAILY EVEN IF THEY ARE ALSO WEARING A HAYNES HOODIE OR JACKET. Class shirts may only be worn on announced or specified days.


Shoes and Socks:  

Students may only wear athletic shoes, top-siders, or rubber-soled shoes. Backless shoes, crocs, boots, high heels, platform shoes, moccasins, slippers, slides, flip flops, or shoes with wheels may not be worn. Girls may wear black, white, or gray opaque stockings, footed leggings or ankle length leggings no higher than 1 inch above the ankle. 


Outerwear:  

Students may wear a Haynes Academy club, class, or team sweatshirt/jacket that has been approved by the administration as outerwear.  Students can wear a solid grey, white, or black sweatshirt without a hood. Students must wear their uniform shirts underneath the outwear..  Sweatshirts purchased at state or national tournaments or meets are not approved to wear to school. No other Hoodie but a Haynes affiliated hoodie are allowed on campus.  


*Clothing or outerwear from other schools may not be worn at Haynes Academy including high schools, colleges and universities.*


Students ID’s:  

Students must wear the current year’s Haynes Academy student ID every day.  If a student loses his/her ID or leaves it at home, a temporary ID must be purchased for that day.  A student must report to the office during homeroom to purchase an ID or he/she will receive a detention.  If the student cannot locate the ID, a new, permanent ID must be purchased.  Temporary and new ID debts will be considered financial obligations of the students.  IDs may not be altered or defaced.


Book Bags:  

Only clear, see-through or mesh book bags, tote bags, or backpacks are permitted.  Students may carry a small purse (must be within the six by six measurement requirements). Athletic bags must be stored in the area designated by the coach before the tardy bell rings and they should stay there until the athletic event begins.

 

Not Permitted:

  • Hats, bandannas, visors, ear muffs, or caps may not be worn.  Knit caps and Haynes affiliated hoodies may be worn outdoors on cold winter days only (temperature must be below 50 degrees).

  • Hair picks, rakes, combs, or hair sticks/pens may not be worn.

  • Scarves, gloves, or sunglasses may not be worn indoors.

  • Clothing with holes in it may not be worn.

  • Hair rollers, hair nets, or shower caps may not be worn. Only small (no larger than 4”) black, white, gold or gray hair accessories may be worn.

  • Sweatpants or warm-ups may not be worn under school uniforms.

  • Long earrings or ones that may cause injury may not be worn.

  • Jewelry such as chains, medallions, bracelets, rings, or watches which are long, excessive, expensive, offensive in design, present as a weapon, or family relics are not to be worn to school.

  • Toys, games, playing or trading cards are not permitted, as well as radios, tape players, cameras, recording devices, iPods, mp3 players, beepers, laser pointers.

  • A student must use appropriate grooming techniques and good hygiene. 

Extracurricular clothing: 

All organizations, clubs, teams, or group t-shirts or outerwear must be either black, yellow, gray, or white, with the exception of class color t-shirts and outerwear.  All extracurricular clothing must contain the name Haynes Academy in the design.  All designs must be approved by the administration.

 

Field Trip:

 If your student is attending a field trip that involves physical activity (ex: the trampoline park) or a trip that is overnight, the faculty in charge of planning the trip will provide a dress code expectation that is approved by the administration.

 

Dress Code Violations:
Students must immediately correct any violation of uniform code and/or the student will call home for a change of clothes that are in compliance with the uniform code.


  • 1st Violation: Warning/Parent Notification

  • 2nd Violation: Lunch detention/Parent Notification

  • 3rd Violation: In School Suspension/Parent Notification

Dress Code - Dress Down Days:
During a dress down day (a day which will be announced by the administration) students are to follow the specific guidelines for that day. For example, if the announcement states that students may wear a yellow or green shirt and jeans or uniform bottoms; a student must wear a school appropriate yellow or green t-shirt or sweatshirt and jeans or uniform bottoms. The shirts may not be cropped, spaghetti strapped, have holes, or sleeveless. School policies must be followed in terms of outfit contents. No clothing advertising inappropriate behavior (ex: drugs) 0r containing profanity will be allowed.
On days in which it is stated that students can wear jeans, the jeans must be full length (no shorts) and contain no holes. Jeans should be white, black, or blue - no other colored jeans will be allowed.

Dress Code - Theme Days:
Two to three times a school year Haynes Academy’s Student Council will host themed dress down weeks. It is the expectation that every student will still be dressed according to the above policies. Students should never wear leggings without shorts; bottoms shorter than fingertip length; hats indoors; masks; slippers; etc.

Dress Code - Special Events:
Haynes Academy is honored to host special events for our students on an annual basis. These events include, but are not limited to: Junior Ring Ceremony, Graduation, Band Concerts, Senior Walk Through, Prom, and several semi-formal or formal dances. At these events, please ensure all students are dressed according to the following policies:

  • Dresses/Rompers should be at least fingertip length and contain no cutouts. If the dress is a formal gown with a slit, the slit should not be higher than fingertip length.

  • If an outfit has spaghetti straps or is strapless, a coverup must be brought to school and put on at the discretion of the student, parents, and/or school faculty.

  • It is the expectation that regardless of the outfit type; no excessive cleavage is allowed.

  • Pants must be fit to the student appropriately. Pants should sit at the waist and if a belt is needed, it should be worn. For special occasions, pants should not have any rips, tears, or holes in them.

  • Button down shirts should have all buttons intact and should have full sleeves.

  • Shoes must be worn at all times during a special event so be certain that you wear a pair of comfortable shoes. Please note that under the dance rules and regulations released by the district, shoes such as Crocs are not allowed to be worn at formal or semi-formal events.


Failure to comply with these policies may result in a student being dismissed from the event or being asked to go home to change into something appropriate. If there is ever any doubt if the outfit is questionable, please have your child take a photo of them in the outfit and bring it to the front office so they may gain approval.
