KUDOS to Mr. Lampo for adding the links. This should make things easier for English III. :)
Greetings. Please feel free to email me at Sandra.DeMers@jppss.k12.la.us with any questions you may have.
PLEASE be sure to do the reading. You will be discussing this text in SEMINAR on Friday of the first full week. Anyone who wants to get a head start should begin working on TERMS. They are listed (along with their definitions) in all-terms-by-unit-2nd-ed, and there are about 600 of them that must be written in a composition book in your own handwriting (NO typing). Be sure to read and follow ALL of the instructions provided in the How-to-Vocab link below.
A list of homework assignments will be given out in class. It will also posted at the end of the AP Psychology section. Please scroll down to view.
SUMMER READING Brain Rules: 12 Principles for Surviving and Thriving at Work, Home, and School by John Medina.
SUPPLY LIST – In addition to your summer reading book, you will need: pens (blue or black and at least one or two red), pencils (#2 for scantrons), a 1″ binder OR a folder for keeping your handouts/work together, a set of 12 colored pencils for drawing diagrams, and a 4-pack (or 4 individual different colors) of full size cans of Play-Doh for the brain model. Colored pencils are needed the first week; the Play-Doh will be used shortly thereafter. PLEASE put your four cans of Play-Doh in a name-labeled, freezer weight Ziploc bag as soon as you get it, and I will store it in the room for you. You will take your completed model home in the bag, so you must have one. If you do not have your Play-Doh on the day we make the Play-Doh brain models, you will receive a zero for participation that day. It is almost impossible to make up missed labs/activities because the group as a whole is not present during make-up time. Please make every effort to attend class – especially on activity days.
AP PSYCHOLOGY EXAM DATE is Monday, May 7, 2018. GOOD LUCK!!!
NOTE: If you need to make up a test, it is YOUR responsibility to come take it. This may be done on Wednesday at the beginning of lunch – YOU MUST LET ME KNOW AHEAD OF TIME THAT YOU ARE COMING. Bring a sandwich or something that you can eat while you work. Remember that you need to make up a test the following week after you miss it. You do not have unlimited makeup time.
Welcome! I hope you find the information here to be useful.
Supplies: BLACK or dark BLUE pens for writing; RED pens for corrections; PENCILS for scantrons; loose leaf; paperback, college level DICTIONARY; a folder or binder to keep your work in one place. PLEASE bring in a pack of computer printer paper and a box of Kleenex. I make LOTS of handouts!
Please bring the supplies you need to do your work to class every day. It goes without saying that you need paper and pens every day.
Vocabulary workbooks are not in yet; vocabulary will not begin until everyone has a workbook.
Class novels will be provided – The Scarlet Letter, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, and The Great Gatsby.
NO EXTRA CREDIT WILL BE OFFERED TO ANYONE MISSING HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS! Extra means “beyond the usual,” not in lieu of it.
