On this page you will find information regarding Ms. Vargas’s English II and English III classes. This site is in progress, so bear with me as I build it.

English II Syllabus
The standing homework assignments are to keep up with the outside novel (particpation grades to check for comprehension will occur each Monday, with quizzes every 2-3 weeks) and to work on the college research essay, as students only have Fridays to work on them in class, which will most likely not be enough time to complete the sections thoroughly. On a daily basis, students may need to finish up classwork that they did not have time to complete.

10/9 – Campus Life section due (College Essay)
10/15 – Timed writing (major grade)
10/15 – Conclusion due (College Essay)
10/22 – College Essay FINAL DRAFT due (major grade)
10/22-23 – College Essay Presentations (oral + visual)
10/26 – The Book Thief end-of-novel quiz
10/29 – In-class discussion (prep begins 10/25)
10/30 – Cold Read Assessment (major grade)
*Reading checks for The Book Thief occur every Monday, unless a test is scheduled. These are participation grades. Reading will complete on 10/23, and students s will begin writing a literary analysis essay on 10/26. The literary analysis will be due 11/26, which is the Monday we return from Thanksgiving break.
