HOMEWORK & CLASS NOTES
IMPORTANT MESSAGE – Please read details below regarding your Project Plan
DEADLINE for PROJECT PLAN – extended until Friday, April 13th.
By Friday 4/13, you must send me an email with a SPECIFIC OUTLINE of your project plan. Remember that meeting all deadlines is worth 10 points of your grading rubric. You must send me this email EVEN IF you already completed your project during spring break.
SPECIFIC OUTLINE means including all relevant details such as who/what/when/where/how.
For Option #1 (Field Trip): Where are you going? Who are you going with (including chaperone)? How will you get there? When are you going? What sites will you visit?
For Option #2 (Primary Source Research): Who will you interview? What is the main topic that you intend to learn about? When and where will the interview take place? How will you get there? Include a list of the questions you plan to ask.
For Option #3 (Library Research): What topic will you research? (Remember that you need to get your topic approved before proceeding.) Where will you look for information? (You need at least 3 sources.) How will you proceed if you cannot find enough information to write a paper of sufficient length?

MARDI GRAS HOLIDAYS – Monday, Feb. 12 through Friday, Feb. 16
There is no homework assigned during the holiday break. The test on Chapter 12 & 13 study guide will be given on Wednesday & Thursday of the week we return to school. Have a safe and fun Mardi Gras!

- We are preparing a theme basket to be auctioned at the Haynes Gala on February 24. IMPORTANT! Your notes on this unit will be collected and graded. This will count as a MINOR ASSESSMENT.
REMEMBER: Your grade does not depend on HOW MUCH you write… it depends on WHAT you write. To take effective notes, you should READ the entire section, THINK about the main ideas, SUMMARIZE the information about the topic, and WRITE notes that will serve as “memory triggers”. The details you write about each topic should be BRIEF but COMPLETE. Depending on how you write, your notes on Chapter 12 will likely take no more than 2-3 pages.

ESSAY – Final draft of essay worked on this week must be turned in at the beginning of class. Finish and polish your essay this weekend if necessary and make it your best work. Essay must be handwritten, not typed. This is an assessment grade.

GEOGRAPHY UNIT TEST – This is a major assessment and covers all material we have studied since the beginning of the school year. Review chapter 2 in your textbook, study guides, and maps.

(1) Come to class with your rough outline for extended response essay AND introductory paragraph on loose-leaf with thesis statement underlined.
