Please take this survey for Mr. Lanford:
May 15, 2019 – YOU SHOULD BE STUDYING FOR THE FINAL! (See Below) Also – finish the ACT practice test for tomorrow if you didn’t finish in class. We will check it in class. Bring your BLUE pen.
May 8, 2019 – Your final will resemble an ACT/PSAT math test with a focus on Geometry questions on topics we covered this year. I suggest you review using the videos made by Mr. Lampo’s class. Although not every question is in the Geometry folder, the vast majority are, so focus on that folder. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2dF37K1N7fgQzP1IIs4Bkg/playlists
Remember, this will count as the final unless the EOC results come back in time.
May 1, 2019 – Here is another practice test. If you are not taking the Biology EOC tomorrow, you will work on this in class.
April 30, 2019 (until the EOC) – STUDY FOR THE EOC/LEAP2025. It is also your exam. You should be studying ever night at home for at least 45 min. If your grade is low or if you have struggled to understand Geometry, plan to spend more than 45 min per night. Some suggestions are posted below ( more are available from last week).
Final Eam Review – topic summaries – This is a summary of various topics (not problems)
Final Exam Review – Mult choice with answers – great practice test (remember to put the answers in a safe place until you are finished the test and ready to check)
FINAL EXAM REVIEW FOR GEOMETRY – Multiple Choice with answers – great multiple choice questions for practice (remember to put the answers in a safe place until you are finished the test and ready to check)
April 24, 2019 (and the rest of the week) – In class we will review for EOC, for homework, register for Khan Academy class and do assignments with April 29 deadline. There will be a quiz on that material in class on Tuesday (Half of the grade will be determined from watching the videos and taking the quizzes, the other half from the in class assessment.) Remember: Interim on M2 and M3 Friday (major assessment). THE EOC IS ONLY 7 CLASS DAYS AWAY (May 6th and 7th) – you should be studying on your own as well as in class. Here are a few geometry reviews that I found useful. (These are great for every student.) They all have answers, so you can know how much you know:
Remember, our practice EOC questions tend to test multiple facts at a time (ex: volume formulas for 4 different solid figures and your ability to use/make changes to them) so I also suggest working harder, more involved problems as well (such as those in the Eureka workbook).
Additionally, these videos provide good instructions on how to do basic problems but are a bit lengthy. Consider watching them and doing the problems with the teacher if your grade is C- or below:
Video 1 – first half of review
Video 2 – second half of review
Remember, as you work problems at home, collect any questions you may have and ask me. I will set aside time each day.
April 18, 2019 – Due to the shortened day today, the second part of the Module 5 quiz will be given Wednesday (Yes, the day we return). If you haven’t signed up for Khan Academy, please due it now (see below), an assignment will be given on Wednesday that will be due the following Monday (4/29) (you can start it early if you want). You will be watching some videos and taking some quizzes. There will be an in-class quiz on this material as well. There will be an Interum given Friday (4/26) that will count as a Quiz/Test on M2 and M3. It was delayed due to middle school testing. (I mentioned this way back before middle school testing began.) Several people have asked for a review of M2 and M3 for the interum and M5 for the quiz. If I post “assignments” on Khan Academy for these topics it will be many, many videos, so instead, I will provide instructions to get to the Eureka Geometry course so you can pick the topics you need: Go to Khan Academy and search courses for Eureka Math/Engage NY. Then scroll down to On Grade Support and select Eureka Geometry. You should then see many videos under each Module. It is a great way to review for the EOC. Select the videos that you want. I hope this link brings you to Eureka Geometry. Your notes should guide you as to which sections we skipped. If you just want to see how much you remember, there are quizzes on each topic for you to check your knowledge.
April 17, 2019 – p 140 1-3, 6,7 and p 148 1,2a,b; This is due tomorrow even though there is a quiz tomorrow since this material is on the quiz; If you are having difficulty writing the equation for a circle, try this video; Quiz Module 5 Tomorrow (I found this review that seems pretty good, but it doesn’t follow our book exactly.); Module 5 exit tickets expire tomorrow; Please visit Khan Academy (TONIGHT) at the following link:https://www.khanacademy.org/join/DUVM35J9 and use the class code DUVM35J9 to create an account under my class. (Dont just use an old account.) You will need this right after the break. VERY IMPORTANT: JPPSS rules do not allow you to use your first or last name so, your last name will be your period and your first name will be the first 3 letters of your last name and the first letter of your first name. If your last name only has 2 letters, use an X for the third letter. If I am in 4th period and my name is Rebecca BREnnan, I would become: Last name:4 First name:BRER
